Part 4
Hindu Institutions
Family:
Family is the last Hindu institution surviving but on the verge of collapse. Here India fares still better, as family in America has collapsed. People are not marrying, no children, living together, same sex marriage and what not. Countries in Europe are dying old without babies. Are surviving on migrant population. India is fast catching up.
Governments, courts and vocal NGOs want to follow west blindly. My right to divorce is becoming stronger than right to marry. What ever they complain about family as bad or old practices was recommended to make family strong and permanent. Non-Indians cannot understand this as they have not achieved permanence of family in their societies.
Another big factor is salary economy, where a job seeker is to leave his family. How far India can go if every body will look for a job? Whole India is busy enriching America and Europe. By this India will be enslaved one day.
Village:
Earlier Village was a self sufficient administrative and economic unit. They had their systems of governance, dispute resolving, caring the old and disabled, generating and distributing income.
First the Britishers demolished it by introducing Jamindari system. Now the greedy and corrupt politicians do not want to restore the old system. In India the average citizens see everything, but does not open his mouth. Where as in America an inconvenienced citizen may lodge a complaint, protest or may file a suit. There are mechanisms which are responding and working. And in India?
Mandir:
Mandir is not just a structure in stone. It is a place for devotion, spiritual discourse, social gathering, debate and discussion, place where hungry can find food, travelers can find shelter, where rich and poor can sit together and eat, where people can donate for larger good, which can support education, hospital and needy people, place to celebrate festivals.
Greedy politicians even those who profess atheism, Governments which by constitution are secular have grabbed the funds, lands, donations and administration. What you see now is a stone super structure and alti by a salaried pujari. Where as you can find all the above in a Sikh gurudwara, a Muslim masjid and Christian church in India. The church may be funded by America.
If you want to build a mandir that does all the above, do it in America.
University:
India had busy universities when the rest of the world was in primitive stage. Today you send your child to a university he comes out a graduate, good for nothing, not employable, no skill, no confidence, cannot open a startup. Even graduates from top institutes become worthwhile after adding a foreign degree. If you want to visualize what Nalanda or Takshashila was doing you have to visit an American university.
Thinktanks:
Hindu society and governments were run by think tanks, advisory councils, expert bodies. Muktimandapa in Puri is one example. They were advising the king and also guiding the society. You can hear about think tanks in America, where are the think tanks of India?
Now what do you think?
